Launching My Copywriting Website With Launch It, Girl!

My first, DIY website was a doozy. I threw it together without any real strategy or thought toward my clients, my services, or my long-term goals.

My previous website wasn’t the worst! I tried to learn Squarespace basics and completed the site within a few weeks. While it did the job, my copy was vague, the layout was lacklustre, and I hadn’t even considered what I wanted visitors to feel!

Once I decided to commit full-time to running my own business, I knew I needed to invest in a dreamy website design and my self-taught Squarespace skills wouldn’t cut it.

Which led me to Launch It, Girl!

 

Finding A Website Designer & Brand Strategist

When looking to upgrade my website, I knew I wanted someone who specialized in website design AND brand strategy. Someone who could help me narrow down my brand values and target audience, and then bring it all together in a stunning, cohesive design. 

My requirements for a website designer/brand strategist were:

• Designed with Squarespace 

• Women-owned

• Affordable – Not to underestimate the immense value of website design and brand strategy at all. As a new business owner, however, I needed to balance endless costs.

• Provided design, strategy, and mentorship

• Fun vibes!

After an afternoon of Google searching, I landed on Launch It, Girl’s website and knew instantly that I wanted to work with them. Their site was gorgeous, straightforward, and full of cheeky personality. Everything I wanted my own website to be!

Initially, I inquired about their Group Launch Pad Program designed to help new businesses launch their brand and website in only 4 weeks. During a Discovery Call with Lauren, she explained that the group program wouldn’t begin until 2022, but they had space available in their 8-week 1:1 program, which offered even more mentorship and coaching. Just what I wanted!

 

Doing The Thoughtful And Creative Branding Work

I can’t give away all the secrets, tips, and steps Lauren provided over the 8 weeks of working together. BUT, I can say between our weekly calls and the e-course, they helped me get focused on my brand strategy, feeling, and visuals, narrowed down my offers, and offered insight into my target audience. 

Right from the start, their course provided prompts to help define the feeling I wanted to convey to my dream clients, which formed the foundation of my copy, visual choices, and offers. 

Those feelings BTW? Optimistic, calm, adventurous, and inspired. 

From there, we started creating mood boards (imagine photos of stormy green oceans and lush meadows with orange poppies), condensed my copy, and tweaked all the tiny little details until my dream website was created.

 

The Cherry On Top Of The Website Launch

I craved more than just a refined, vibrant website. What I really needed was a coach/mentor who could help me navigate the craziness of a new business. 

Writing? I’ve got that under control (though I’m always learning more). Starting and running a business? I could do with some extra help.

The weekly calls with Lauren existed to support the e-course work. Yet, their portal was straightforward and I rarely had questions about completing the work!

Instead, we used those check-ins to delve into the bigger questions and concerns I had about launching my own business. We covered how to improve discovery calls, key clauses to include in contracts,  navigating difficult clients, marketing myself, and finding networking groups.

And the end result?

A gorgeous website that feels like me AND connects to my dream clients, confidence in my offers, and more knowledge about how to manage a company, protect my client’s interests and my own, and provide a superb copy adventure!

Plus two wonderfully amazing women I know I can email or call whenever Google fails to answer my latest business question.
